headshot consultations
Headshots are one of the most important tools in an actor’s toolbox. Capturing the person’s essence and intentions are key to the shot.
My headshot consultations are vital for you not to waste your money on shots that aren’t good. I can give you clear direction so you are prepared before the shoot.
I work with clients to prepare for the shots in a variety of ways. Some clients need months of work to prepare properly, others need a little fine-tuning.
I give you tips and recommendations for your special needs. Everyone has their own issues and no two people are the same.
choosing the right photographer
A great headshot is an essential tool for booking a job. When choosing a photographer, be sure to look at their body of work and see who they photograph best. The focus of the headshot is not the style of the photo, but you. If you do not look like your headshot, the photo does not serve its purpose.
Ask around for recommendations for photographers. Don’t choose (or rule out) a photographer simply because of price; investing in a great headshot will save you time and money.
It is always a good idea to meet or talk with prospective photographers to establish a connection and get a feel for one another’s style. You need to be able to communicate with this person and be comfortable enough with their abilities and experience in order to trust their judgment. Share your ideas and what you’re looking for with your chosen photographer, and do not hesitate to speak up or ask questions.
before the headshot
It is extremely important to be prepared for a headshot shoot; this is where our headshot consultations can help. Getting a professional photographer to take your headshots can get expensive, but you don’t want to make the mistake of taking pictures that don’t look like you and paying for new headshots a few months later.
This photo is NOT a glam shot. It should accurately reflect your image and personality, and what you want a casting agent to see in you. When called in for an audition, the casting director wants the person they see in the photo.
If you have your hair and makeup done beforehand, make sure it is not an appearance that doesn’t look like you or a look you won’t be able to recreate when going out for an audition.
Have all of your outfits planned out ahead of time. Make sure they fit well, are clean and not worn out.
If you are not feeling well leading up to your shoot, call and reschedule. You want to look your very best for this shoot, and feeling ill is not something you will be able to cover up in your shots.
